How it works
Set your time
Choose a daily check-in time that fits your routine.
Enroll contacts
Enroll one to six trusted contacts: a friend, sibling, parent, or anyone you trust.
Enter your code
Each day, type your check-in code when Amara prompts you.
We escalate
If you miss the check-in, Amara escalates to your contact with an alert.
Designed around real safety
Works when your phone is off
Server-driven escalation works even if your phone is off or out of battery.
Interval mode
Interval Mode for periodic timed check-in prompts when you're away from home or just need regular frequent checks.
A quiet duress code
A duress code that silently alerts your contact while showing a normal check-in screen.
A companion, not an emergency service
Amara is a wellness companion, not an emergency service. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
Questions people ask
What is Amara?
Amara is a safety check-in app that helps you stay accountable to the people you trust. You set check-in times, and if you don't check in as expected, Amara can alert your designated contacts according to your escalation settings.
What happens if I miss a check-in?
If you don't respond to your check-in within the required timeframe, Amara begins the configured escalation process. Depending on your setup, this can include reminders, alarms, and notifications to your trusted contacts.
Is Amara a tracking app?
No. Amara is not designed for constant location tracking. Your location can be shared with your trusted contacts when an emergency escalation occurs, according to your settings.
What is a duress code?
Your duress code (also referred to as a panic code) is a separate security code designed for situations where you need help but may not be able to openly indicate that something is wrong.
What happens when my emergency contact is notified?
They receive an alert containing the information Amara makes available for that emergency, which can include your emergency instructions, health profile, and location where applicable.
Does Amara replace emergency services?
No. Amara is an additional safety layer, not a replacement for emergency services. It helps notify people you trust when you may need assistance.
